Gilt is an online fashion and lifestyle retailer that taps into the emotion of shopping with high-end luxury items through a discounted flash sale model creating a sense of desire and urgency.
During my time at Gilt, I worked on a range of projects and initiatives that focused on the themes of excitement and ease of use.
Each project was a stand-alone consideration, that went through an experimentation and testing process, before being rolled out showing significant positive impacts to customer satisfaction and engagement.
Uniqueness of Gilt
Gilt's business model while falls under e-commerce, is a unique approach and is a leader and innovator to the flash sales model.
Every day at noon, the entire site would refresh with a new offering of high-end luxury goods creating a frenzy of customer engagement attempting to get items before they sold out. Because of this, the approach and design considerations were highly tailored to the speed and ease of use our customers needed.
Gilt Live
While the core shopping experience remained, we created a new platform to showcase in real-time what people were shopping. The page was an at-the-moment look of individual items that were being purchased tapping into the social behavior of engaging with the site, as well as teasing the idea of scarcity by showing the real-time nature of shopping and incorporating badging when product counts became low.

Ideation Process
We generated concepts from across the core team and normalized them for review. In order to rapidly evaluate more than a dozen ideas, we orchestrated an off-site workshop to collect input from various teams, users, and executives.
